I hope you're all doing well!
This has been a complicated month: the set was born while we were in the middle of moving house from one island to another, I had to sculpt offline in ZBrush whenever I could find a moment :)
It had been a while since I wanted to make Lizardmen inspired by iguanas โ more primal and brutal compared to my previous sets, with salvaged metal armor taken from other factions.
In the picture, a Falgor Lizardmen wearing a turtlekin shield and a bone jawelin, to the right, a Lizardman riding a Pterowyvern!
For this set, I had a very clear idea on how to differentiate male and female Lizardmen of Falgor (please don't consider the pinup as canon): males have prominent curved spines along their backs, while females bear large crests, like fin-shaped ridges.
Lore-wise, they worship Rotmulag, the Lord of the Hunt โ a forgotten deity from the First Era, long defeated like many others in Mundus, but still revered by primitive and isolated factions. Maybe you remember his cursed avatar from the Temple of Arba? :)
For the heroes, I wanted a powerful war chief who leads through strength and brutality, and a wise shaman who contemplates the swamp with his little salamander friend.
Sculpting them was incredibly inspiring โ their energy and attitude are completely opposite.
The Epic Boss was a truly epic... challenge. Beyond the several days hand-sculpting too many scales, the biggest hurdle was figuring out how to fit this massive creature on a 10cm base, and how to slice it for printing while hiding the cuts along scale lines. But in the end, this has become one of my all-time favorite Epic Bosses!
This is the kind of monster I'd love to throw againt high level parties, I just hope they will bring reflective sunglasses, since basilisk gaze convert flesh into stone!
And if a colossal, stone-gazing basilisk monarch isnโt enough, what about a version tamed by the Lizardmen and ridden into battle like a war machine? That variant is this month's Guildhall Exclusive!
